Irwin Was Here

This book was inspired by the creative community and legacy of California College of the Arts established for 100 years in Oakland before relocating to San Francisco. It is hand-bound and constructed with eco-printed paper using debris and leaves from local plants on campus grounds. The contents of the book are letters, notes, poems, and drawings from the school’s community expressing their love for this campus and the artistic home and haven it provided them. Contributions range from recent graduates and alumni to the school’s Half Century Club members. These are paired with observational sketches of the various landmarks, historical buildings, and iconography that made up the school. This book was donated to the Oakland Campus Legacy Committee to become a part of the library archive.
